Comenzaron a tocar a mediados de los 80 en Birmingham con una formación y un estilo bastantes diferentes a los actuales, con Mick harris a la batería, Justin Broadrick a la guitarra y Nik Bullen al bajo y a la voz. Juntos grabaron la cara A de "SCUM" en 1986 ,mas tarde abandonarían el grupo Broadrick (guitarra) y Bullen(bajo y voz) entrando en el grupo Bill steer (guitarra), Jim whitely (bajo) y Lee Dorrian (voz), esta seria la formación que grabaría la cara b de "SCUM" en 1987 y por fin saldría a la luz este primer y original trabajo de esta banda Un LP anticomercial con el que empezarían a darse a conocer. Mas tarde y con la misma formación grabarían las "Peel sessions". Una especie de recopilación de las manos de Jonh Peel. Luego en 1988 llegaría "From enslavement to Obliteration" mejor elaborado que su antecesor "Scum", un LP con temas como "Envolved as one", "Unchallenged hate", "Social sterility"... En este LP entro al bajo Shane Embury, sustituyendo a Jim Whitely. En 1989 con esta formación grabarían el EP "Mentally murdered", con 6 temas con los que cerrarían una etapa de "Napalm death", después de este trabajo abandonarían el grupo Bill Steer y Lee Dorrian para formar Carcass y Cathedral respectivamente. Rápidamente fueron sustituidos por Mark "Barney" Greenway (ex-Benediction)a la voz y por Jesse Pintado (ex-Terrorizer) a la guitarra. Se embarcan en una gira por UK y el resto de Europa junto a "Morbid Angel" y "Carcass". Poco tiempo después se les une un segundo guitarrista: Mitch Harris(ex-Righteous Pigs) y todos sus esfuerzos se centran en grabar un nuevo álbum, así nace "Harmony Corruption" su tercer LP en 1990. Con un estilo bien diferente a sus anteriores trabajos rozando el Death Metal pero sin llegar a ser tan denso como este estilo musical ,un LP que marca claramente una evolución musical mas que un cambio de estilo, con temas como "If the truth be now", "Mina sanare", "Sufre the chillaren", etc. Un año después grabarían "Mass appeal madness", un EP con 2 nuevos y 2 temas antiguos que son "Social sterility y "Unchallenged Hate". Después de este trabajo Napalm Death ya es un grupo consagrado y conocido en todas partes y es en este momento cuando Mick Harris (actualmente en Scorn) decide abandonar el grupo por diferencias musicales, así que de nuevo vuelve a ver un cambio entra Danny Herrera a la batería. Inmediatamente siguen de gira junto a Sepultura, Sacred reich y Sick of it all, dando varios conciertos por US. Más tarde viajan juntos a Rusia actuando ante 14000 personas en 2 actuaciones. Después de todo esto entran a grabar su 4ºLP que llevara por titulo "Utopia banished" ,un disco con 14 desgarrantes temas que tienen un sonido bastante mas crudo que su anterior trabajo que recuerdan en algunos fragmentos a los antiguos Napalm Death ,con temas como "Dementia acces" ,"Idiosyncratic" ,etc. Después de sacar este LP comienzan su gira "Campaing for Musical Destruction" junto a Dismenber y Obituary por Europa y siguen con Carcass y Cathedral y Brutal Truth por US. Después de esta gira sacarían al mercado una recopilación que lleva por titulo Death by manipulación. Siguiendo con la misma formación y gira tras gira sacarían al mercado el LP "Fear, Emptiness, Despair" en 1994, un LP diferente, con un sonido y unos ritmos densos. Tras la salida de este disco se embarcan en una gira junto a Emtombed, Obituary y Machine Head. Después de 2 años vuelven a la carga con un nuevo álbum: "Diatribes" su 6º LP que vendría anunciado en 1995 por un Mini LP titulado "Greed Killing". Temas contundentes y llenos de ritmo, con temas como "Greed Killing", "My own worst enemy", "Diatribes", etc. Después de este LP comienzan una gira junto a "At the gates" por Europa. A estas alturas Napalm Death es un grupo mas que conocido. Entoces sacan un nuevo LP ,el 7º que lleva por titulo "Inside the Torn Apart"(1997),siguiendo la misma línea que en su anterior trabajo con temas como "Birth in regress", "Down in the zero", "The lifeless alarm", etc.

Carcass nace en las tierras de la ciudad de Liverpool, Inglaterra, donde emerge entregando una intensa música Grind. La banda fue innovadora, formando parte de la oleada de bandas de gran calidad y agresividad junto a Napalm Death, en la cual Bill Steer, el único miembro original de la banda, también tocaba en sus inicios. Carcass no siempre tuvo al mismo vocalista, aunque así se creyera, sino que la banda nación con un misterioso integrante simplemente llamado Sanjiv, que al poco tiempo fue remplazado por el ya conocido Jeff Walker. Los dos primeros discos y sus sugerentes y explícitas líricas (Reek Of Putrefaction y Symphonies Of Sickness), hicieron que los fans de la música más extrema se fijaran en ellos. Tras estos primeros discos la banda evolucionó hacia un estilo más depurado y técnico. Esto quedó demostrado en su tercer disco titulado “Necroticism: Discanting the Insalubrious”, en el cual ya contó con la participación de Michael Amott, quien se dice que cayó accidentalmente en la banda debido a un frustrado ingreso en Napalm Death. Sin duda este tercer disco marcó mucho la carrera de la banda, por el cual adquirieron más fama y ya se les miraba con otros ojos, la leyenda comenzaba. Tal fue la importancia que fueron reclutados por un sello discográfico tan grande como Columbia (para muchos el gran error cometido por la banda). La historia tendría el punto más alto en la salida del cuarto disco, el más emblemático y conocido de la banda: “Heartwork”. Una evolución notable en la banda y demostrando la técnica indiscutible de sus integrantes, sobre todo de Michael Amott y Bill Steer, quienes lograron plasmar un feeling y armonía perfecta en el disco con sus guitarras. Junto con la fama adquirida y el status de iconos del metal, comenzaron los problemas. Nunca existió un feeling real con el sello discográfico y ya las rencillas en la banda comenzaron, gatillando la salida de Michael Amott de Carcass. Como todos saben Amott se dedicó a tocar en Spiritual Beggars y al proyecto en el cual esta ahora, los exitosos Arch Enemy. El quinto disco de la banda, “Swansong”, salió en duros momentos de la banda. Este disco contó con el nuevo guitarrista Carlo Regadas y el disco no tuvo el éxito esperado, con lo que después de un par de giras se terminó por disolver la banda. Bill Steer comenzó a involucrarse con sonidos más ligados al rock con la banda Firebird mientras que el resto de la banda creo el nuevo proyecto llamado Blackstar, que no tuvo mucho éxito, alcanzando a sacar solo un disco. Tras la disolución vio la luz “Wake Up And Smell The Carcass” y posteriormente “Choice Cuts”, compilaciones de la banda en el que junto a temas nuevos se pueden encontrar rarezas y versiones en directo. Carcass regresa en la actualidad en una reunión memorable, para realizar una gira mundial y salen a la venta las re-ediciones de discos como “Necroticism: Discanting the Insalubrius”, “Heartwork” y “Swansong”, que incluye un DVD documental. Lo único distinto es la participación en la batería de Daniel Erlandsson (Arch Enemy), debido a que Ken Owen esta totalmente retirado de la música tras sufrir un derrame cerebral hace un par de años.

Paul Speckman was one of the figures that shaped Death Metal as we know it now. For some reason, he dropped from the radar screen in the early 1990s, and little has been heard of him since. However, he left a solid, if not always impressive, body of work. While Master is his best-remembered legacy, Abomination seems to have been consigned to the bargain bin of history. It shouldn't have been. You see, Abomination pisses all over Master from a great height. Master was messy but influential proto-Death Metal, never quite finding one identity to stick to. Abomination was solid sub-death thrash, too heavy for the average Metallica fan, too serious for the average Anthrax fan, and too intellectual for the average Megadeth fan. Abomination dealt great slabs of songs, as noisy as a shipyard building a battleship. The three-piece band generated this huge sound with a minimum of fuss. It is probably the lack of fuss that counted against the band in the long run. Aside from opener "Blood From Oil", the rest of the album is unremarkable, in the sense that you know you've just received a damn good dose of thrash, it's just that you can't remember any of it. It's like going to a football match where your team scores in the first minute, then plays out for a 1-0 win- it's the result you wanted, but getting there was not as exciting as it could have been. "Blood For Oil" though, is the kind of stomping, relentless opener bands like Nuclear Assault and Sodom managed less often than they would have liked. Taking snippets of Gulf War news bulletins, Speckman questioned the motives and results of the short-lived desert war, asking if oil is really worth the human toll, on both sides, of armed conflict. Sounds kind of topical, doesn'tit. Elsewhere, it seems Paul Speckman wasn't too keen on the country he lives in. "Oppression" asks if there really is freedom in American society. "Pull The Plug" is not a cover of the Death song, but rather a diatribe aimed at drunk drivers. "Industrial Sickness" examines the damage industry causes to people and environment. Yep, America is sick, and little seems to have changed since 1991. While not an album to impress a non-believer as to how good thrash can be, there's still plenty on offer here - no frills music played with conviction, and thought provoking, politically motivated lyrics. A nice history piece.

Banda de speed/thrash metal de Frankfurt, Alemania, fundada en 1982. Después de perder a su guitarrista gracias a su imagen de un montón de borrachos, tuvieron que lanzar su primera grabación hasta 1986. Desde ese entonces la banda continuamente ha hecho canciones con el mismo estilo, canciones de metal rapidas en honor al alcohol. Ellos claman haber inventado un nuevo genero, "Alcoholic Metal". Nasty Savage was a thrash metal band originating from Florida, USA. The band rose to popularity primarily due to lead vocalist "Nasty" Ronnie Galetti's over-the-top stage show performances. After releasing four albums between 1983 and 1989 they broke up. There has been some speculation of a reformation which was heightened after an album of new material was released in the spring of 2004, but little has been heard from them since.
